Stop Critical Self Talk

What do you do when you have self critical thoughts?

When you do get off-track here is a simple meditation/exercise to help refocus and re-align your thoughts.

  1. Shut your mind down – easier said than done but try to tune out self critical thoughts.
  2. Think of something that makes you happy – swimming in the ocean, being with family or friends, relaxing on the beach, skiing, being in nature.
  3. Hold this happy thought in your mind and focus in on all of the sensory elements of this thought- close your eyes and imagine warm warmer as you dive into crystal clear water, the smells, sounds etc
  4. Now that you have focused in on the thought turning it into more of a feeling – close your eyes and hold this feeling in the center of your mind and heart for 20 seconds

20 seconds of a happy feeling will erase thousands of self critical thoughts.
