self-care is NOT self-love
You can be doing all the things for self-care and not love yourself. Most people do, which creates more confusion and disconnect from the self.
It can even cause deep self-judgment and frustration – it’s like I’m doing all the “things” and nothing is helping.
We can only give and receive based on our level of love for ourselves.
DROP THE PHRASE …
“Can’t expect anyone to love us until we learn to love ourselves.”
For those of us who’ve experienced childhood trauma, difficult relationships, or any number of other painful experiences, learning to love ourselves may not be as easy as it sounds.
And its Self-Love is not self-care – disciplined actions of self-care can lead to self-love.
But you can do all the self-care and not love yourself.
The good news is that self-love can be learned and cultivated – AND it is the key to changing your life.
The essence of self-love is the way in which you experience yourself. Since your core nature is love, to love yourself is to experience yourself AS love. When you go out into the world embodying the awareness that you are loved, you live your life from a belief system that is I AM WORTHY.
You do not need to earn your own love only to realize it. You are Love – and anything you lack is a direction inward to LOVE yourself more.
