We have heard it all before “Its only 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react” and “Instead of complaining that the rose bush is full of thorns, be happy the thorn bush has roses.” and “You are what you think.” “You will always find what you are looking for.” BUUUUTTTT what does this all matter when you are in the middle of a crisis – it doesn’t ! Logically you can say “yeah yeah I know I have heard it all before” but it doesn’t change your current situation does it? If anything it is annoying to hear this overly saturated information no matter who it comes from.
The main thing about changing your perspective is you have to Change something you are currently doing.
So rather than theory, here are 5 action steps to take that can have you re-routing those little negative pathways in your brain.
✨Step back – Create space from you and the situation at hand. Sometimes when you look at something so long or too closely it just doesn’t make sense anymore. Take a day or more to completely leave it. Try not to think or obsess about it and simply let it go. This can be easier said than done, however it can have massive a huge impact. A good thing that I remind myself of is thinking that the universe has a better plan in store for me than my little head can imagine, so the space I give to it allows for something bigger and better to come in.
✨Exercise/ Get out in nature – Exercise can help shift things around physically in your body setting off endorphins to help you look at the situation with new eyes. Nature heals everything – watch waves roll in, stare at the beauty of a nights sky, look at the details of a flower petal.
✨Meditate – It doesn’t need to be for long! Set a timer for 5 min at first and sit in stillness breathing and watching what arises and choose to let it go.
✨Change your routine – Literally changing the scenery can open new opportunities and synchronicities to snap you into a new way of thinking and being.
✨Think positively and ask yourself these questions- Do you have 2 working legs? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have at least one person you love and trust? Will this matter in 5 years? Simply change your thoughts to “I can do this” “Let me see the positive in this situation” Simply have Faith!
A lot of things are simply out of our control in this world but one thing I can guarantee that is in your control is your perspective.
“You are only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”
