Integrating the Shadow with Sex, Money & Power
The concept of integrating the shadow originates from the work of psychologist Carl Jung.
Jung believed that the human psyche consists of conscious and unconscious elements, with the unconscious containing repressed or denied aspects of ourselves, known as the shadow.
Exploring mental models and blocks around money, sexuality, and power can effectively uncover and integrate the shadow. By acknowledging and integrating these shadow elements, we can become more whole and authentic human beings.
Transforming the shadow into a fully integrated human being requires a willingness to face and embrace our fears, vulnerabilities, and negative emotions. This process involves a lot of inner work, self-reflection, and self-awareness.
The metaphor of turning lead into gold used by medieval alchemists refers to the transformation of base metal into a precious substance.
In the context of integrating the shadow, it means transforming our negative qualities into positive ones and becoming a more fully-realized and empowered version of ourselves.
Psychic composting is another metaphor used to describe integrating the shadow. It refers to breaking down and transforming the old, negative patterns and beliefs that no longer serve us into new, positive ones that promote growth and healing.
Like composting, this process can be messy and uncomfortable, leading to new growth and transformation.
